Why your website does not rank high in Dubai?

You’re not alone, there are many websites struggling to rank high in Dubai but fail due to many reasons. In this article, I’m going to explain to you the common causes of not being able to rank high on search engines in Dubai.

Reason for not ranking high on Google in Dubai

As you know, the Dubai digital landscape is highly competitive in the world. A city that transformed from desert to skyscraper in a single generation now hosts over 400,000 active businesses, many of them fighting for the same top three Google results. If your website is invisible on search, you’re not just losing traffic, but you’re also losing business to your competitors in real time.

Why your website does not rank high in Dubai?

Targeting the wrong keywords

Targeting the wrong keywords is one of the main reasons you can’t secure your position on the first page of Google in the UAE. You should understand the behaviour and intent of the searchers in Dubai. You must use local intent keywords in content to get found and rank high on the search engines in Dubai. For example, if someone is searching for the keyword “best SEO agency in Dubai” or “Local SEO Dubai” or for instance, an Arabic SEO agency in Jumeirah. Your website content should have these geographical keywords in your content.

If your keyword strategy was built without local intent research, you’re essentially targeting an audience that doesn’t exist in the UAE. Generic terms like “accounting services” or “web design” are dominated by global giants you will never outrank without enormous budgets.

Optimize Google Business Profile with Local Intent

An incomplete or poorly optimized Google Business Profile (GBP) is another reason for not ranking in local search. This is one of the fastest wins available in Dubai SEO and one of the most commonly neglected.

  • Create a Google Business Profile listing and complete all the required information properly, including Name, Address and Phone number.
  • Complete all other information, such as working hours, services, and WhatsApp (very useful in the UAE)
  • Start inviting your customers to write a Google Review for your business, giving a trust signal to Google that helps in ranking.
  • Keep posting blogs on a regular basis to ensure that your business is live.

Mobile First website that loads fast

Not optimizing the website for mobile is the biggest factor for not ranking on top of Google. The UAE has one of the highest smartphone penetration rates in the world. Over 80% of searches in Dubai are made via mobile devices. Google’s Core Web Vitals, which measure load speed, interactivity, and visual stability, are now direct ranking factors. Google gives preference to fast-loading websites that also help in a low bounce rate.

The following are a few must-do things for optimizing a mobile-first website:

  • Host your website on a server in the UAE or the nearest country to reduce the number of hops decreasing loading time.
  • Use a Content Delivery Network such as Cloud Flare, Flying CDN etc.
  • Compress all images and serve them in next-gen format like WebP.

Low or Poor Backlink Authority

Backlinking is another crucial ranking factor on Google. Having a low or poor backlink profile creates trustworthiness issues and results in lower ranking on search engines. Not earning backlinks from UAE-based publications, industry directories, news portals, and business associations shows no regional relevance signals to Google that you are not a genuine local authority.

The following tips will help you to earn quality backlinks, helping in building relevancy and trust.

  • Get listed in local directories with complete and uniform information throughout all the directories, such as Dubai Chambers of Commerce, Dubai Business Directory and more.
  • PR outreach to Gulf News, Khaleej Times, Arabian Business, or industry-specific UAE portals.
  • Outreach to webmasters in your niche to earn backlinks in exchange.

Content not align with the Dubai audiences

Not having content relevant to the Dubai audience is another major factor for not ranking high on search engines in Dubai. As we know, Dubai is home to multicultural people from all parts of the world. The dominant professional and consumer language is English, but search behaviour reflects an enormous range of cultural contexts.

Thin, generic service pages do not rank in competitive Dubai markets. Google’s Helpful Content system rewards pages that demonstrate genuine expertise, experience, and local relevance.

The following are the points to be taken into consideration while writing content for a website in Dubai.

  • Write content using Dubai-relevant keywords in your niche.
  • Create separate Arabic content for the services, driving traffic for Arabic keywords.
  • Publish long-form guides — “Tips to find the best SEO agency Dubai in 2026” outperforms a thin services page every time.

Technical SEO issue

Most of the websites have good content and are visually appealing, but still struggle to rank high on Google. Ignoring technical SEO is another important factor for not ranking at the top of search engines. A technically broken website, Crawl errors, duplicate content, missing metadata, broken internal links, and non-indexed pages are silent killers that prevent Google from understanding and ranking your site.

Take the following points for better technical SEO in Dubai.

  • Run a technical SEO audit of your website using industry SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, or Ahrefs.
  • Ensure the sitemap is created properly and all desired website pages are indexed on Google.
  • Ensure the robots.txt file is in the root directory of your website and allows Google bots to crawl properly.
  • Make sure all broken links, redirections, and canonical tags are fixed.
  • Implement schema markup, especially LocalBusiness schema with UAE address details.

Your competitors are working continuously on SEO

That’s the bitter truth, you don’t want to hear that your competitors have invested years and years to stay ahead in competition and secure the top position on Google. Businesses in many competitive sectors, like Real estate, legal services, healthcare, hospitality, and e-commerce, your top competitors have been investing in SEO for years. They have thousands of indexed pages, hundreds of quality backlinks, and well-optimised technical foundations.

SEO is a long-term investment with continuous improvement that returns to you in the long run. You need to understand and implement the following facts in your SEO campaign.

  • Treat SEO as an ongoing operational cost, not a one-time project.
  • Set a realistic 6–12 month horizon for meaningful ranking improvements in competitive sectors.
  • Keep an eye on your competitor’s SEO strategy.
  • Identify and dominate niche sub-topics where competition is lower while building authority toward harder terms.

Conclusion

Businesses that consistently invest in SEO over 12–24 months don’t just rank higher, they eventually rank for hundreds or thousands of terms simultaneously, generating qualified traffic at near-zero marginal cost per visit.
